PasadoDocs a calm writing surface

Who should use this?

For Therapists — 10 reasons

For therapists and other clinicians who do a lot of narrative writing — a private surface for progress notes, session notes, and formulations, where nothing you type ever leaves your desktop.

  1. HIPAA-aligned by architecture — nothing you type leaves your desktop

PasadoDocs is a local desktop application. Your note text is never sent to a cloud service, never stored on a PasadoDocs server, and never processed off your machine — only sha256 hashes ever leave. That removes an entire category of cloud-exposure risk. Your practice's own HIPAA framework still governs physical, administrative, and workflow safeguards; the tool simply doesn't add cloud risk on top.

  2. A calm place for long-form clinical narrative

Palette on the left, page in the middle, notes at hand. No pop-ups, no shiny things fighting for attention while you're composing a treatment summary or working through a formulation.

  3. The Scribble — recover a phrasing you didn't mean to delete

Clinical writing turns on precise wording. A multi-branch history of everything you typed means you can recover a specific line — or a specific word — long after you backspaced over it.

  4. Autosave. Always.

No save button, no "did I save that intake?" The document is persisted continuously on your own disk, so a crash or a closed window doesn't cost you the last twenty minutes of a session write-up.

  5. Reusable templates for the note structures you already use

SOAP, DAP, BIRP, biopsychosocial, treatment-plan scaffolds — save your preferred structure once and reuse it across clients, so the framing is consistent and you're not re-typing headers every session.

  6. AI that helps you organize — never ghost-writes

If you choose to use the AI features to think through a formulation or organize an intake, they can suggest structure and surface patterns — but the AI is never permitted to place words into your document on its own. Your clinical voice, and your judgment, stay yours.

  7. Plain-text files on your own machine — no vendor lock-in

Notes save as ordinary readable text on your own disk. Back them up, archive them, migrate them, or move to another tool later — you are never locked into a proprietary format that traps your records inside a single vendor.

  8. Works offline

Between-session charting, a home visit, a spot with no Wi-Fi — the app doesn't need the internet to write, save, or open your notes.

  9. A contemporaneous record of authorship

A running Transcript records the writing of each note as it happens. If your documentation is ever questioned — audit, regulatory review, litigation — the Transcript is a contemporaneous, machine-verifiable record that you wrote the note yourself, when, and by what path.

  10. No account required. No telemetry on what you write.

You don't need an email address or a login to run PasadoDocs and write notes. There are no analytics on the content of your documents, no third-party trackers, no "usage insights" collected from your text. What you type stays yours.

A note on HIPAA. HIPAA compliance is a property of a covered entity's whole practice, not of any single piece of software. PasadoDocs removes a specific and material class of risk — cloud transmission and cloud storage of PHI — because your note text simply never leaves your machine. It does not, and cannot, substitute for your practice's own HIPAA policies, physical safeguards, workforce training, or breach-response procedures. It is designed to fit cleanly inside a HIPAA-conforming workflow, not to replace one.
